The retail industry's shortage of trained manpower, has led to the opening of lots of institutes that are catering to training manpower for the industry. IN the last few years alone these institutes have increased from 6 to 50. The retail manpower-training sector is in itself worth Rs 1,250 crore and will grow at more than 50% annually, making it a lucrative byproduct of the retail industry. The maximum number of people are required for front end jobs, which jobs are increasing by 100% per annum. Industry sources have calculated that there will be 2.2 million retail jobs by 2011, with 80% of these being front-end jobs.
