Our Dubai plan

Our plan for Dubai is getting firmer and our paperwork is currently underway. My first trip to Dubai was last month, although my hubby has been traveling there a couple of times a month since last September. I simply loved the energy and excitement of Dubai. It's people are warm, friendly and very welcoming. Overall, it's going to be a great place to stay.

We're still looking for an apartment as yet, and hope to finalize something on our next trip there, in early July or so. There is a severe shortage of accommodation in Dubai, although there are thousands of new buildings coming up, there seem to be more people moving there to occupy them as well.

Here's a pic that I took driving down Sheikh Zayed Road, which is one of the major east-west roads in the city.

One problem with Dubai is Itisalat its state run communication provider. They have blocked Skype and other kind of voice based services. Communication costs and real estate costs in Dubai are pretty high.

Though my wife loved the city. She'd love to settle there.

I believe Google Talk still works there. Our friends have been there for a couple of years and they make all their calls to India using this system.

As long as the broadband service is working well, I am willing to pay more.

Yes, real estate costs are really high and we've yet to find a place to stay in Dubai. Saw some of the newer apts and they are miniscule, totally not worth the price they are asking.
