BookSurge ropes in major publishers for its print-on-demand service

Amazon.com's subsidiary BookSurge has brought in several major publishers such as HarperCollins, McGraw-Hill, John Wiley & Sons, Oxford University Press, Pearson, Springer and many more, to use its print-on-demand service to create backlist, out-of-print, large print as well as current books from Amazon.com. With this service publishers will not have to carry inventory for those titles, and customers can receive their books in the usual delivery times. According to David Symonds, general manager at BookSurge, "The print-on-demand service is ideal for publishers who want to bring back out-of-print or backlist titles as well as maintain in-stock availability of midlist and frontlist titles."
