Retailers keen on Kolkata but the city faces severe shortage of large retail space

Retailers are interested in developing the retail scenario in Kolkata but the city faces a severe shortage of large retail space, so a number of retailers are going outside the city to look for space, in areas such as Siliguri, Jalpaiguri and Durgapur where RPG Enterprises will be opening all formats of its Spencer’s stores, ranging from 1,500 to 50,000 sq ft. Future Group's Pantaloon has set up its largest store in Kankugachi spread over 85,000 sq ft and Spencer’s will soon be opening its largest hypermarket in Kolkata.
