in a tree house

What is it about tree houses that endear them to us so well? I've always loved them. not only for their vantage point and views but for their sense of adventure. You have to be adventurous to go up into one, you have to a bit kiddish to love them, and you have to love them for the feeling of joy that they give.

I came over here from Pink Dogwood's blog. Such a cute tree house! Where was the picture of the canoe from one of your earlier posts on vacation taken? Such a serene picture, that is.

Thanks so much bindu!

This tree house was at the Cardamom Club resort in Thekkady. It's a great place to stay, very beautiful, personal attention from the owners, superb food and service. Here's their site: http://www.wildlifeperiyar.com/

The photo of the canoe was at Birds Lagoon Village Resort near Thattekkad, close to the Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary. That was a superb place to stay too...very serene, very beautiful and great service as well. Here's the link: http://www.ernakulam.com/Birdslagoon/index.htm

lovely picture. I too came over from Pink Dogwood's blog. I love the idea of tree houses but being scared of heights, the reality leaves me a little shaky in the legs!

Tilly, thanks so much! This was quite high up and needed both hands to go up and down, but the view and atmosphere was really lovely once you were up there.

taste memory: thanks so much....exactly, they do bring out an adventurous mood in us.

I think we also love tree houses because it's so different from the regular house. Like with tent houses and (perhaps less beautiful looking) also trailers, for people who live in regular houses the not-so-regular kind feel fun and playful. Like having access to a different world. Lovely picture- want to see more of the tree house!

Oh fantastic! I'm terrified of heights but love tree houses. Talk about paradoxes! Anyway this is a great initiation because I'm planning a holiday in Kerala which also involves a tree house which I'm told overlooks a really deep ravine on one side. I hope they have ropes to tie me down! :P

That's funny! If you need any help planning your kerala trip let me know...we stayed at a number of great places.
